How to Verify an AI-Generated Image
Check an image for C2PA credentials, metadata and documented provider signals without relying on visual guesswork or uploads.
1. Check Content Credentials
Inspect the file for a signed C2PA manifest and review the signer, assertions and validation result.
2. Review embedded metadata
EXIF, XMP and IPTC fields can provide useful context. Treat editable fields as indications, not proof.
3. Record the limits
If no signal is found, record exactly that. Do not convert an absent or stripped signal into an authorship conclusion.
